Sally Campbell Counselling & Psychotherapy
Welcome.
I am a counsellor based in Perthshire, offering inclusive and compassionate therapy both online and in person. My work is grounded in Gestalt psychotherapy and informed by trauma awareness, diversity and a deep respect for each persons story.
I believe therapy is a space to be seen and supported - a place where you can begin to make sense of things, at your own pace, and just as you are.
Here you can learn more about how I work and the different ways we can meet - online, in person, and outdoors.

Introduction
Support That Makes a Difference
I care deeply about offering inclusive and compassionate support. My aim is to create a space where you feel safe to explore whatever you are carrying - with understanding, kindness and without judgement.
I am proud to work alongside people from different backgrounds, identities and communities - including LGBTQ+ and gender, sexual, and relationship diversity (GSRD) spectrum. Whoever you are and however you identify, you are welcome here.
I believe that when we feel truly seen and supported, change and healing become possible. Together, we can deepen awareness and understanding , paying gentle attention to your experiences at a pace that feels right for you.
I work in a trauma informed way, which means that I always prioritise your safety, choice, and emotional wellbeing.
I have experience working with (and not limited to):
Anxiety
Life transitions
Relationships
Trauma
GSRD
Taking the first step into counselling can feel daunting. It isn't easy finding the time in such a busy world, or the courage to meet someone new when you are feeling vulnerable. It can also feel difficult to make space for yourself in the middle of life's demands - especially in challenging times.
When you arrive, you will be met with a calm and welcoming space. We will take time to get to know each other and to explore what brings you here. Our first session is a gentle opportunity to talk through what you might need, ask questions, and see how it feels to work together.
If we decide to continue, we will agree a simple working contract - something that helps us both feel clear and supported as we move forward. My role is to walk alongside you, offering steadiness, curiosity, and care as you explore your experiences at a pace that feels right for you.
I see our work as a shared journey rather than a quick fix - one where you can begin to make sense of your story, reconnect with your strengths, and move toward the changes that matter most to you.
My Role

More about me
Dip Gestalt Psychotherapy, COSCA Cert Counselling Skills, MSc Psychology & Health, BA (hons) Psychology
I have been working with clients since 2015, in both the voluntary sector and in private practice. My core training was in Gestalt psychotherapy with the Edinburgh Gestalt Institute, and my approach is now complemented by further study in complex trauma, somatic therapy, outdoor therapeutic practice and neurodivergence.
Inclusion and diversity are central to how I work - they inform both my practice and my personal values. I am currently expanding my learning through additional training in working alongside trans, gender diverse and questioning people as well as in relationship counselling. This ongoing learning continues to shape and expand my future offerings.
Over the years I have worked as a sessional counsellor with Harbour Counselling and Mindspace in Perthshire, and I also taught Counselling & Psychology at Perth College, UHI for six years. More recently, I have worked with Venture Trust, a respected organisation known for its therapeutic and personal development work in outdoor settings.
I have regular supervision with an experienced supervisor who supports my work through constructive challenge and guidance - something I value deeply as part of my professional integrity.
When I am not working, I spend time outdoors - walking, swimming or simply breathing in the fresh air. As I navigate an empty nest, I find I am drawn to quieter moments of reflection and growth. My mindfulness practice helps me stay balanced and present, and I continue my own personal therapy as part of my commitment to self care and professional development.

Online Therapy
I love nature but I am also a homebody who relishes the comfort and safety of my own space. I'll admit - I love a candle, a fire in colder weather, a cup of tea and a pair of cosy socks. So, I am very much in favour of those online sessions where we can settle and lean into the work from home.
Online therapy is a genuine and increasingly popular choice. Many people find it easier to fit therapy into their busy lives when they can meet online, in a space that feels familiar and private. There is no right or wrong choice, only the one that feels best for you.
Working online can offer many benefits, from flexibility and accessibility to the comfort of being in your own environment. The therapeutic connection that is so vital to this work is just as alive online as it is in person, or out in nature.
What feels right for you?

OUTDOOR THERAPY
Do you feel more comfortable outdoors?
For many being outdoors is good for the soul. The fresh air, the smell of rain, wood and soil that can gently soothe your senses and deepen your connection to the world around you.
Outdoor therapy offers a chance to step away from the four walls and breathe a little differently. Sessions might involve walking, sitting, or simply being still in nature - always at your own pace and with care for privacy, safety, and comfort.
If this way of working sounds right for you, we can arrange to discuss further, please get in touch.
Alongside my private practice, I also work with a third sector organisation offering outdoor therapy to young people. Many of them describe feeling more relaxed, grounded, and open when surrounded by nature and i often see how the natural world can help conversations unfold more gently.
Whether outdoors, online or in person, the essence of therapy remains the same - creating a safe and compassionate space to explore what matters most to you.
Reflections
I have found healing while out amidst nature.
Above all else, the natural elements have allowed me time and space to settle, breathe a little deeper, and slow my nervous system, allowing for new possibilities to arise.
I now work outdoors regularly. I find that the space can be a powerful conduit for healing and change
The wonderful use of metaphor, physical movement and somatic release allows us to experience a deepening acceptance and understanding of life's challenges and we can find more movement within ourselves.
I also enjoy the process of tasking with clients, whether it be, setting up hammocks or preparing a fire. The sharing of the more intuitive tasks outdoors builds on our sense of connection and calm.
I have a current outdoor first aid certificate to ensure all outdoor work is safe and contained.

MORE ABOUT GESTALT THERAPY
Contemporary Gestalt Therapy originates from the work of it's founders, such as Fitz & Laura Perls in the 1950's. Gestalt- is a deeply relational, creative and compassionate approach, where support is key.
As a Gestalt Practitioner, I am interested in your experience. By offering a safe environment and an authentic relationship, we can begin to understand more about ourselves and how we relate to the world and each other. Healing can occur when we experience something new and, by understanding the ways in which we have coped and adjusted over time. The depth of connection between client and therapist offers rich ground for real therapeutic work to occur.

Emily Dickinson
Hope” is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -
And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard -
And sore must be the storm -
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm -
I’ve heard it in the chillest land -
And on the strangest Sea -
Yet - never - in Extremity,
It asked a crumb - of me.

The Peace of Wild Things
When despair for the world grows in me and I wake in the night at the least sound in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be, I go and lie down where the wood drakerests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds. I come into the peace of wild things who do not tax their lives with forethought of grief. I come into the presence of still water. And I feel above me the day-blind stars waiting with their light. For a time I rest in the grace of the world, and am free. Wendell Berry
